Paris Dance

I’ve been home from Miami for a couple of days. But I have been slammed - SLAMMED - with work. This time of year is insane. And with Thanksgiving next week, it is even worse. Thanksgiving totally snuck up on me and in fact I have been having a hard time keeping track of what month it is. Whenever I get overwhelmed, I start thinking of escape. Today, it was Paris.

It all started with a rerun of Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations. Anthony is in Paris, and if there is anyone on the face of the earth who can do Paris right, it is Anthony Bourdain. Anthony does stuff like go to the meat market at 5:00 AM and drinks red wine with all the butchers, which, as he says, makes his entire day ahead a lot better.

Colleen and I were going to go to London before our Ireland trip in the Fall, and I have never been to London. Can you believe that? But you know what, as soon as I said the P word to Colleen she was all over that shit. In a big way. So, Paris in, London out.

I hope to make it to the Techno Parade, which I saw on my first trip to Paris and have never forgotten. Something like 300,000 people dressed in wacky outfits and on who knows what drugs (my choice - pink wine and whatever second-hand hash smoke I can inhale) dance through the city, or on top of crazy floats, or on top of statues. It is, by far, one of the most visually striking and high energy events I have ever witnessed. Super, super cool.

If the world is really going to end in 2012, I want to get as much travel in now as I can. So in 2007, if all goes right, I’ll go to Berlin and Prague (and maybe Amsterdam) in the Spring and Ireland and Paris in the Fall. I just got back from a trip, yet this is all I can think about. It is sick, I know.

Top Chef is on tonight and I still haven’t forgiven them for last week’s fiasco. Most everyone I’ve talked to is like, what the fuck was that? My friend Chad put it like this: “I sat through the whole thing and no one even got sent home?” I have to agree. It really is Buggin. But, now I have Paris, so whateves.

What is this “Top Chef?” Never heard of it. :p

Hi Shannon! I DO read your blog, but don’t always get the TV show references and am too lazy to look them up. So now you know! But today by accident I caught a Top Chef episode on Bravo (wasn’t sure I got that channel with the Dish), and now I get it. Looks like it could be fun.
Hey - we have PARIS to plan for! Too cool. Love the Tony photo …
    Your pal, Colleen
