My exact thoughts ! I tuned in for two episodes and couldn't stand anymore. I saw the Bilbao episode too and the one before that with them in Rioja and a dull small town square with their own private table sans Gwyneth. This show is just a paid in full joyride for the huge ego man Batali. Apparently they flew in Michael Stipe for a real guest. Ugg again. He couldn't impress me less. Though I did enjoy him and Batali in Iconoclasts on IFC in NYC. The book on this TV show is already out and available for $35 at your local BN. (Spain). I thought funny that Claudia and Mark Bitt(er)mann didnt make the cover. Gve me that South African and his dog anyday or even Samantha Brown over this.

Really? I have to admit I caught several episodes of this show completely by accident and I loved it! (Although I did think the two guys were a little creepy in the way they interacted with the women.) But I loved every segment that showed the yummy Spanish food and I thought Gwyneth Paltrow came off really well--just the right amount of self-deprecation and real-peopleness for a celebrity. It's an odd foursome, to be sure, but I thought it was a fun idea!

(And what a great gig to paid to travel around Europe eating local delicacies. Where do I apply?)

I agree completely. I was SO looking forward to this program (I really love Jose Andres' Made in Spain), and I, like you, assumed this was going to be a show about Spain and food in spain. WRONG. It is an ego trip for two old farts thinking they are so cool that these two women really really want them! I actually watched the 2nd episode hoping that I was wrong the first time. Unfortunately, I was not. It is disgusting. What a waste and a shame!

Amen! I made the same comment to my Husband last night about the editing. I Love Mario but had to change the channel after about the first 15 minutes of watching.
